Magdalena Górnikiewicz

Magdalena began her dance education in ballet schools of Cracow, Poland where she worked as a dancer for Ludowy Theatre and extra for KTO Theatre. As a teenager she has been attending festivals and workshops such as Ann Van den Broek FEST, BalletOFFFestival, Israel Intensive at WDD, KCC Dance Intensive, OWTW NA BOSAKA and more. After graduating from artistic high school in Cracow she continued her training at Iwanson International School of Contemporary Dance in Munich, Germany. 

In July 2023 Magdalena will be graduating from the BA programme at Northern School of Contemporary Dance in Leeds, England, whilst during her 2nd year she did an Erasmus+ exchange at UiS Fakultet for utøvende kunstfag in Stavanger, Norway where she performed in choreographies of Haine Avdal and Yael Flexer & Nic Sandiland and choreographed ‘tame/d’ in collaboration with Vilma Kärkkäinen. 

Magdalena in her performance and dance making practices is exploring the invisible chaos and automatism inside and outside the moving body. Her choreographic works have been presented at festivals and competitions such as Warsaw Dance Days, International Choreography Competition for Ballet School Students in Bytom, Młodzi Tańczą in Cracow, Dance World Cup in Offenburg. 

Recently Magdalena performed for Sadler’s Wells Young Associates in 'Hang in there, baby' by John-William Watson and attended workshops such as SHARE Intensive, Flying Low with David Zambrano and In the Moment with Samantha van Wissen. From September 2023 she will join the Interdisciplinary Dance Performance MA programme at NSCD.'
