Beth Emmerson

Beth is a Leeds-based dance artist, choreographer and facilitator. She is also a member of the Antwerp-based dance collective SIDEWARDS.

She is interested in the shape-shifting nature of the performer. She wishes to inject humour, intensity and authentic theatricality into her work, taking inspiration from various film and visual artists.

Since graduating from the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp, Beth has worked on various projects with Sadler’s Wells Young Associate John-William Watson including: ‘This is Not a Penguin’ and ‘Hang in there, baby’. She has also performed work from Compagnie Nacera Belaza (FR) and SIDEWARDS (BE).

Recently, Beth presented her choreographic work, ‘We’ll Begin with a Reign of Terror’ at the Lilian Baylis Studio Theatre (Sadler's Wells) and regularly facilitates workshops for the National Youth Dance Company and Phoenix Dance Theatre’s Youth Academy.

Alongside her artistic work, Beth is pursuing a BSc in Psychology to integrate the knowledge of the human psyche into her artistic practice and support artists to maintain and support their mental health and well-being within the industry.
